What makes a good Trainer?
Choosing the right trainer is the most important first step you can
take for you and your dog's happiness.
New trainers come and go each year. A good trainer should
be able to pass two simple tests:
-
Does the trainer have a proven track record?
Many
trainers begin with good intentions but they quickly find that just being a
dog trainer does not qualify you to be an expert, full-time instructor.
Castle
Hill Dog Training
has been in business for over 25 years. Working with dogs and their owners to have
the most rewarding life together is our goal.
-
Is the Trainer certified?
In Connecticut it is not
required that you become certified to be a dog trainer. Anyone can
choose a name, print a brochure and call himself a dog trainer.
Being a certified instructor requires hundreds of hours of classroom
schooling, including dog care which is taught, in part, by a veterinarian
and deals with vital issues of maintaining a dog's health as well as
recognizing early signs of health problems.
A certified trainer's knowledge of dogs goes far beyond how to hold a leash
and make a correction. Ask to see the trainer's certification
certificate.
I'LL BE HAPPY TO SHOW YOU MINE!
In short, do you
want to risk your dog's wellbeing and your time and money on a trainer who is
untried and minimally qualified?
THE CHOICE IS YOURS!
